Foreedge painting

Foreedge painting, at Boston Public Library, via Internet Scout. Called a hidden art. Imagine how much more hidden if one replaced edge with skin.

Which reminds me of a joke I loved as a teenager. You know this one? The punch line is, The old man says, "Wait", and starts clapping his hands, "Bump di-di-bump-bump, Bump di-di-bump..."
